101 Bucks Consigned

One hundred and one (101) bucks have been consigned to the 2014 Western Maryland Pasture-Based Meat Goat Performance test. Nominations were received from 25 consignors, representing 15 states. This is the first year, goats have been consigned from Texas.

Almost all of the bucks consigned are Kiko. There are also some crosses and one Boer buck. The breed composition of some consignments is unknown or undeclared.

There are ten (10) new consignors to this year's test. Fifteen (15) consignors are previous consignors; of which two are returning after a year or more absence. Kentucky and Maryland have the most consignors, at 4 each. Kentucky has the most goats consigned (n=20). The sale of top-performing bucks will be held September 6 in Frankfort, Kentucky.

Many of the bucks are sons of top-performing bucks from previous years.
