So far, 16 goats have been nominated to the 2011 Western Maryland Pasture-Based Meat Goat Performance Test.
Nominations have been received from four producers in Maryland, Delaware, and New Jersey. Eleven Kiko and Kiko cross goats have been nominated, along with five Myotonic.
The nomination period closes on May 15. All nominations received by the deadline will be treated the same. If nominations exceed the capacity of the test, preference will be given to Maryland residents and previous consigners. Breed diversity will also be sought.
When submitting nominations, it is not necessary to identify the specific goats for the test, only the number that will be consigned.
