The goats were worked on Friday, September 15. Eleven (11) of the bucks required anthelmintic treatment as determined by FAMACHA© eye scores, body condition scores, and other indications. Goats scoring 4 or 5 were dewormed with Cydectin®. FAMACHA© scores averaged 3.26 compared to 2.03 on August 31. Body condition scores declined from 2.79 to 2.65. Two weeks prior, none of the goats had required treatment for stomach worms.
The goats will next be weighed on Friday, September 29. On Monday, September 25, they will be measured for carcass traits using realtime ultrasound.
Recent rains have definitely perked up the pastures.
