So far, three producers have consigned fifteen bucks to the 2012 Western Maryland Pasture-Based Meat Goat Performance Test. Ten of the bucks are from new consigners. Each of the consigners has committed to providing two bucks for the pen vs. pasture comparison study.
The nomination deadline is May 15. All nominations received by the deadline will be treated the same. If the test receives more nominations than the pasture resource can support, preference will be given to previous consigners and Maryland residents. This only happened once in the past. In this case, each consignment was reduced by one goat.
It is not necessary to identify specific bucks for the test. At the time of nominations, all that's needed is the number of bucks.
When the goats are delivered to the test site on June 2, each buck should have a buck information sheet filled out and provided.
