Consigners may nominate up to 5 doe kids for each buck they have on test. Any breed or breed cross is eligible to sell. Registration papers are not required. However, the does should be contemporaries to the buck on test. They are required to be half-sibs. In other words, they must share a common parent (usually sire) with the bucks on test.

Because this is a sale of performance-tested goats, does will be required to have birth and weight data. With the information provided on the nomination forms, adjusted weaning weights will be calculated for all of the goats in the sale.
The health requirements are the same as was required for the bucks on test. Does must have proper USDA scrapie identification. They must arrive with a certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI, health papers) based on the requirements of the state of Maryland and a “Livestock Exhibitor’s Self-Certification of Animal Health.”
The consignment form (2 consignments per page) can be filled out online and printed -- or printed and filled out by hand. Unfortunately, the form cannot be saved and e-mailed.

There will be a floor price of $200 for does in the sale; $300 for bucks. A sales commission (probably 10%) will be assessed on proceeds above the floor price (does only). Private treaty sales will be prohibited, as this will undermine the sale.
Questions pertaining to the sale and field day should be directed to Susan Schoenian at (301) 432-2767 x343 or sschoen@umd.edu or other members of the goat test committee.
